Restoration - 1978 Trans Am Blue T-Top Automatic
Back in 1998 Scott located a low mileage '78 Martinique blue out of Colorado that was just a cream puff. A W72, WS6, Fisher T-Top with a factory CB radio. It had a little over 20,000 original miles. The interior and exterior was a 9.5 but it was in need of a good engine and front-end detail.
Under the road grime, the axle tubes, leaf springs and drive shaft were pristine. We were living in a rental at the time and the garage was stuffed to the gills. We made just enough room to back the car in and we get to work. We pulled the engine and all front-end components and began the detail process. We added a ram-air exhaust system with duals a cross-over pipe and had the carburetor rebuilt.
Scott had the identical car with only 2,300 original miles. In November of that same year we took both cars to the Trans Am Nationals. We met Tim and Eileen O'Malley who took a real liking to the car and bought it at the show. I contacted Tim in 2005 and offered to buy it back. He declined and I don't really blame him. He said they had only put about 3,000 miles on the car, which was being kept in storage with their other collection.
